Day 6 - Our Last Day in Paris (3/29/15, Sunday)

On our last day in Paris, we were on our own, our OD had to go back to London.  We started by walking from the hotel to the Gare du Nord to see how the walk was (a trial run for Monday morning).  We stopped at a cafe and enjoyed some breakfast -- I had a crepe with jam, don't remember what Paul had.  I tried to look up the restaurant on line but couldn't find it.  Maybe I'll find the receipt and add it here later.

After that, we took the metro to Père Lachaise Cemetery.  We visited the graves of Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison, Chopin and Oscar Wilde.  It took us about an hour or so to find the first grave .. maybe more.  There was a map but it took us a while to figure out how to read it.

Jim Morrison

Edith Piaf ..

We then took the metro to the Eiffel Tower (for the second time), so I could have some pictures of it.  Not as pretty of a day, but still pretty spectacular.

on the way to dinner I took a picture of a door .. I had taken a bunch of door pictures but ended up deleting all of them.  :(.  So this is my only French door.

We then went to dinner at Le Bouillon Chartier.  I had steak frites, which was excellent.

We then went back to the hotel for the night ... a great day!

Day 5 - March 28, 2015

On this day we went to the Catacombs ...

I recommend that if you go, go early so you don't have to wait in line too long.  We waited in line for about 2 hours.  It was worth it but we would have preferred a shorter wait.  It was however, very, very creepy.  While waiting in line, we had a coffee and croissant.

This was the day that I realized that I had lost all my pictures.  I took some pictures with my phone but mostly no pictures.

After the catacombs we stopped in a cafe for a rest and then went to Musee D'Orsay.  Unfortunately, our stop at the cafe was a little too long so our time at the museum was cut short.  After the museum, we walked to Notre Dame, which was beautiful.  We walked through it and took loads of pictures.   Which I lost. :(.

We then went for a drink at Montparnasse Tower which had a beautiful view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

We then tried to have dinner at Le Bistro Paul Bert, but we didn't have a reservation so we ended up going to Chez Mamy which was perfect.  We sat at the bar and ate and shared a bottle of wine.

Day 4 - March 27, 2015 (Friday)

This day, we walked a ton.  We walked to the Eiffel Tower from who knows where.  A metro stop close by.  We bought a baguette, some cheese, and some salami and ate it with the Eiffel Tower in the background.  We walked from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe and then walked down the Champs Elysee.  We then stopped and ate a crepe made by a street vendor, probably the best crepe I've ever had.  From there, I don't remember where we went ...

here's the map of the places we went in Paris

Breakfast at Hannah's

So last Saturday, I had coffee with a dear friend at Hannah Coffee Tea & Sweets in San Jose.

So worth getting the coffee just for the design.  It tasted great too!

We talked about politics, school (she's a teacher), and Doctor Who.  What a great way to start the day (not the politics part, but the coffee with a friend part).

Goals etc.

Sooooo, this summer my goal is to finish posting about last year's trip to Europe and then to get back into posting regularly.  This blog is supposed to be my on-line diary type blog.  Not much here about quilting, just about everyday life.

I want to remember more of what happens in my life and this is how to do it.

Wish me luck ...

Day 11 - April 3

I am a little mad at myself for waiting so long to post these (almost two years).  There is so much more I would have said had I done it ...
