White Elephant Breakfast

Cooked for the office today, with a little help from Jane.  We had bacon (to the tune of 4 lbs), sausage, a bacon sausage caserole, a french toast caserole, fruit and juices.  It turned out great except participation wasn't.  There was something that needed to be filed that kept four people away, and two people were sick.  What can you do?  I should have re-scheduled for tomorrow, but I didn't.

Dear Diary ..

I was thinking I would really want to keep a daily diary so I wouldn't forget anything .. however, this past week, or so, there hasn't been anything I've cared much to remember.  Why is that?

I didn't get any good pictures of Mikey because we were too far from the stage.  Who knew it would be so crowded?

12/7/2013 - Pearl Harbor Day

Of course I am writing this at 12:05 a.m. so I am really writing about 12/6, but at this point it's all the same.  Funny, before I started this, I thought I wanted to remember every moment of every day, but some days are not that memorable.  Today was one of those days.  Nothing much for me to want to remember.  Is that bad? Worked a half day. Took Robin (and Adam and Schallert) to the airport.  Watched the boys.  I just don't feel it.  I didn't have any epiphanies.  Just a rather humdrum day.

Watched another Dr. Who episode, Father's Day. 

Didn't make anything.  Felt like I was just marking time.  Ah well.  Maybe tomorrow will be a good day that I want to remember.

12/4/13 - Wednesday

Today started with a trip to the dentist.  That was okay because I didn't have any cavities.  Just need to remember to floss more... how can they still make me feel guilty?  Ah well, it's only twice a year, right?  then it was on to work for a very busy day.  Got our Nespresso machine up and running.  that's about it for excitement.

After work, Robin and I were going to make a diaper motorcycle so we needed to get some supplies -- first we stopped by BevMo to get the ingredients for our Wednesday cocktail; then to WalMart for the rest. 

Made it home, had BLTs, made the disgusting cocktail and then watched an episode of Dr. Who.  Then we made the diaper motorcycle, inspiration from here.

12/3/2013 - Elephants and Bible Study

I finished my pink elephant quilt tonight.  quite pleased with it.

 

Now I need to get ready for Bible Study tomorrow.

Had an okay day at work.  didn't get as much done as I would have liked.  I probably need to come in on the weekend to stay on top of things.  We had our tree trimming at work -- not too exciting.  If there were more of us, it'd be more fun.  Maybe next year.

Had an interesting discussion with Robin on the way home from work about homosexuality.  I really don't understand it.  It was nice to talk with her.

Then dinner and finished my quilt.

Funny, nothing about today that I care whether I remember or not.  I wonder if there will be lots of days like this.

12/1/13 - December Already

Today was a busy day.  We went to church this morning.  We took Mikey and Andrew with us because their parents needed to go to their house in Tracy to repair the fence.  Church was uneventful. 

After church we went to Krispy Kreme and picked up some doughnuts (I think I ate 3 of the 6 and a bunch of the doughnut holes).  I was a little disappointed that the doughnuts were not warm -- but it didn't stop me from overeating ...


Paul (aka Dad) & Michael put up the Christmas lights on the house and got the Christmas Tree.

 

After getting the tree, I went to Michelle's house for a bit.  We had some wine, talked, and watched Dr. Who.  I've decided to go back to the earlier episodes so I can understand things a little better.  

I machine stitched the binding to the quilt and have been hand sewing it to the back.  Will be finished tomorrow night.  Amazing how I can finish something when I actually try.

That's about it for the day.  Tomorrow starts early with the gym at 5:15.

Tonight at the Woodhalls

Had a great dinner -- soup, bread, pumpkin cake and good conversation.  Went around the room talking about what we're thankful for.  Felt like I need to go deeper, but more than that I heard from a couple married for 58 year who are still in love and want to tell you about it; who enjoy being together and being apart.  People who help each other and the others around them; who love the Lord and make me want to go deeper.  People who remind me that I need to remember my friends and call them every now and then.

btw, my cat likes doritos.

Day 1 - 11/30/2013

The goal of this blog will be to keep a diary of my life.  I don't want to forget things ... I'm hoping to keep track of what I do and what happens, in words and pictures.

So, today, Paul and I went Christmas shopping.  Michael and the two older boys had gone hunting so we were watching Cooper.  We went to Best Buy to get Mark's gift and then to JoAnn's to get some batting for the quilt I'm making for Katelyn (Kelly's bff) -- well for her baby.

I finished the back yesterday, put the quilt sandwich together/basted, and did the quilting.  Now to do the binding .. that's the project for tomorrow.

guess those are the highlights.  We have a Christmas party to go to at the Woodhall's tonight.  I may write more later, or not.
